Here's what I read and loved during the month of February:
As always, read the tags por favor, ymmv!
brighter than the dawn (the burning sea) by rowenabane
- NCT, Ten/Kun
- me and the group chat rewatched pac rim this month. which sent me spiraling. bad.
- Loving a thing so much it kills you. Loving someone who believes this so much it hurts.
and miles to go before i sleep by yuchi
- NCT, Mark/Lucas
- Multimodal storytelling save me. Save me multimodal storytelling.
- Epistolary fiction stocks just rose.
- In which humanity endures, no matter the cost. Love endures.
we lost faith (in the arms of love) by stepquietly
- Jennifer's Body, Jennifer/Needy
- Never shutting up about this fic.
- Sci-fi body horror. Another pac rim au and I'm unapologetic about it.
- Jennifer drifts with a kaiju and comes back wrong.
The Depth of the Curve by sinchun
- Omega X, Hwichan/Yechan, Junghoon/Yechan
- Everything I love about canon compliant omegaverse. Great fusion of omegaverse tropes with a k-idol industry critique aftertaste.
- If you only read one fic from this list, this would be a good one to choose.
the last flame of my life by zimriya
- TVXQ, Yunho/Changmin
- Am I technically cheating because this is a series? Well, yes. Do I care? Not really.
- This was good! Really good! I can't say I'm a TVXQ stan, but I love the meshing here of kpop fandom history and omegaverse. If the word count is too daunting, the first part of this series is a masterclass on telling a story through time. It spans decades i think?
- I love when fanfic creates revisionist history for storytelling purposes. Big proponent of this.
- Devoured the whole thing in about a day and a half. More canon compliant omegaverse please.
ask me where my home is by toomoon (jjjat3am)
- Bad and Crazy, K/Ryu Su Yeol
- Asking me to not read fic for any piece of media I so much as glance at is like asking a fish to breath on dry land.
- Selfcest! Fun!
the impossible by bimmyou
- Top Gun, Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw/Jake "Hangman" Seresin
- The full feelings nasty when it comes to grief, trauma, and coming out. Amazing stuff.
- I love Top Gun. Send tweet.
You're Everything A Big Bad Wolf Could Want by Aglio_Saggezza
- Tokyo Ghoul, Rize/Kaneki Ken
- Rize if she decided to indulge Kaneki rather than kill him. Predator/Prey, but make it femdom.
TL;DR by squirrelspur
- NCT, Jaehyun/Yuta
- Token straight boy, not straight boy Jeong Jaehyun strikes again.
- A tale as old as time, but still fun to read :)
prove me wrong by indefinitelyforever
- Jujutsu Kaisen, Geto Suguru/Gojo Satoru
- Possessive satosugu at their most horny and most teenage. I love when they get to just be high schoolers and this is great.
where the stars do not take sides by WitchofEndor
- Avatar: The Last Airbender, Sokka/Zuko
- Now, I did not see the Netflix reboot, but ATLA's resurgence into the cultural conscience did make me want to read all the zukka fic I never consumed the first time bc ao3 didn't exist yet.
- Yes, a love story but a story about sibling dynamics and not just dealing with trauma but creating adaptations and understanding too. Loved.
See you next month! :)
